Cooking with me - Banana Bread

You do not need to be a great cook to create a great meal. I will be bringing in new recipes that are easy to follow.

Everyone is talking about banana bread and I must say it is a family favorite at my house as soon as I make it it's gone. I can’t go to my grandchildren’s house to visit without bringing some so here it is. ENJOY!



1 cup sugar

½ cup oil…I use vegetable oil

2 eggs

1 cup mashed ripe bananas…I use 3 ½ bananas

½ cup sour cream

1 tsp. vanilla

1 ½ cup flour

1 tsp. baking soda

½ tsp salt



  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease and flour bottom of a loaf pan or use 3 small loaf pans …I grease all sides of pan
  3. In large bowl, beat together sugar and oil
  4. Add eggs, bananas, sour cream and vanilla and blend well
  5. Lightly spoon flour in measuring cup and level off
  6. Add flour, baking soda and salt…stir just until dry ingredients are moistened
  7. Pour into prepared pan
  8. Bake a 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes (40 minutes for small loaf pans) check by inserting a tooth pick in center till it comes out clear
  9. Cool 5 min then remove from pan
  10. Cool completely
  11. Wrap tightly and store in refrigerator……can be frozen
